Chicago Nutrition Coach and Health Evangelist

After many years in the healthcare industry where her focus was on helping people after they got sick, Gwen decided it was time to start helping people find a healthier way to live by improving their nutrition. She became a certified nutrition coach so she could provide to others what she had found invaluable from her nutrition coach: support, education, accountability, and results. She now has a healthier relationship with food, her body and her life.

Over the years (30+ years), Gwen has participated in a few Whole30 and Paleo challenges to improve her nutrition. She has also done the South Beach Diet, Atkins, caloric restriction (under 500 calories/day), Nutrisystem, the Cabbage Soup Diet and the list goes on. Sound familiar? She managed to lose weight on these plans but inevitably put the weight back on. She felt defeated and wondered if she could ever keep the weight off.

In October of 2015, she started working with a Chicago nutrition coach who helped her realize that the “flexible diet” lifestyle was the most sustainable way of eating. She discovered that she hadn’t been eating enough food for her activity level. She never would have learned this if she hadn’t hired a nutrition expert guiding her to make ongoing changes. The best part is that she doesn’t diet anymore. The way she eats is her new lifestyle and she is not thinking about food or dieting all day, every day.

As her nutrition coach got to know her, her goals and her dieting history, he was able to recommend the right amount of carbohydrates, protein and fats she needed for her body to reach her goals. In fact, she wasn’t eating enough food.  When she started to eat to fuel her body, she couldn’t believe that eating more would give her more energy and lead to fat loss and increased muscle. But, the most important thing he provided was the ability to listen without judgment and demonstrate empathy and kindness while continuing to increase her knowledge about nutrition. She now has a healthier relationship with food, her body and her life because of her nutrition coach. 

Most of the time, Gwen eats nutrient-dense foods but flexible dieting allows her to occasionally have ice cream, margaritas, and other treats. She believes that this is the most realistic way to get long term results for anyone. No gimmicks, no restricting foods, just eating real foods that support your goals and always finding room for flexibility so you can maintain results and never have to diet again.
